I moved to California, which obviously has many ramifications. One thing that I assumed that i meant was that I had no need to worry about snow squalls, nor'easters, or blizzards, right? WRONG! My fabulous trip to Toledo, Ohio has been interrupted by a blizzard! That's right... 10+ inches of snow, 40 mph winds, temperatures in the single digits. This is ridiculous, I can't wait to get back to California.
I am here for a week of training but my company actually closed early so we got to go back to our hotels... and do nothing. I mean it's a blizzard, right?! So what do you do during a blizzard? You watch the news to see all the car crashes, who lost power, see what's closed and how much snow you can expect. Everything in Toledo is closed. Everything except for the University of Toledo Men's Basketball game against Eastern Washington! Hmmmm.... well, after two hours of hunkering down in my hotel room, I realized there was no way I could stay in all night. So I decided to go to the basketball game!
I had driven by the University earlier so I knew it was only a few miles down the road. So, I hopped in my ghetto-fabulous Hyundai rental car, did a couple of donuts in the parking lot just for fun (my motto: if the rental car place give you a Hyundai, beat on it as much as possible) and headed off to the game. I figured it was a good chance for me to scout out the Toledo Rockets before going to Vegas for the NCAA tournament next month. And of course, I also found a way to make it financially interesting! Toledo was a 13 point favorite and I correctly predicted that they would come out flat in the first half, I mean there were 200 people in the stands, how excited could the players be to play this game?! Anyway, Toledo won... but not by 13 points! So, it was a fun and quite profitable night at the Toledo Men's basketball game, good times! Maybe my trip to Toledo isn't all that bad!
