Red Sox tickets went on sale this past Saturday. No, I'm not just talking about games at Fenway Park... the Red Sox make their annual west coast swing through Oakland in June this year and I was first in line when they went on sale at 9 AM on Saturday morning!
Well, I didn't actually wait in line but I did log onto the A's website to buy tickets. Unlike in Boston where "server busy, try again later" messages haunt Sox fans trying to buy tickets for the upcoming season, I had no troubles at all.
I actually bought 2 tickets for all 4 games for the week of June 11th. My seats are all in the lower section behind home plate. I'm sure that Neil will go to at least one game with me. The real trick will be finding someone to go with me to the Thursday day game, which starts at 1 pm. I am already planning to play hookie.
I guess I have 5 months to become friends with someone who will skip work with me to catch the game, risk being seen by their boss on tv catching a foul ball, and spend the afternoon having a few beers and talking about nothing in particular. This is when I realize that all of my friends who would happily do this live 3,000 miles away. Hey Kevin H., what are you doing the afternoon of the second Thursday in June?
