So one of the perks of my job is being able to travel to some fun places, like my trips to Brazil and Mexico in November. Well, I just got word that I need to go to research management training for a full week... in sunny Toledo! UGH! You have got to be kidding me.
Seriously, does it get any worse than that? We just had our annual sales meeting two weeks ago in Puerto Rico. I did not go to that (I am not in sales). No, instead I am going to Toledo, Ohio instead. WTF??? And for a week too! In February! Grrrrr.
To top it all off, there are no direct flights to Toledo (I guess it's good news that they have an airport, not that it will matter to me). In fact, because the flight options are so bad - I am actually going to fly through Detroit and then drive an hour to Toledo. Believe it or not, this was more appealing to me than the option they originally presented to me... leave Sunday morning, fly to Chicago, have a 4 HOUR layover, then fly to Toledo. Um, no. So I chose to fly to Detroit instead and then drive. Assuming I don't get mugged, shot, or killed (or all of the above) in Detroit, it's actually a much better option. Kinda like having your foot amputated is a better option than having your entire leg amputated.
So, if anyone's ever been to Toledo and knows of any fun places to hang out, let me know! Somehow, I don't think I will be getting many responses.
LOL..when i first read Toledo, I thought, "OOO! FUN!! he gets to go to SPAIN!!!" but then I realized it wasn't that Toledo. PRAY FOR SNOW and maybe they'll cancel the trip. :)

Paul-
Try Bretz in Toledo. I have been there twice and it's not a bad place. Granted it is still in Toledo, but not as bad as you would think!
